Verizon down: Thousands of users can’t access internet in mass outage – Tech News – Tech

Verizon users nationwide have reported a significant outage across dozens of states in the US.

According to DownDetector.com, which tracks tech-related complaints, there was a noticeable increase in reports of issues with texting and calling beginning around 9:30 a.m. ET.

Chicago, Denver, Columbus, Phoenix, Omaha, New York City, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, and Minneapolis topped the list of cities with the most reports, according to the site.

Numerous users found themselves trapped in SOS mode on their phones, rendering them incapable of texting or making calls.

Mobile phone malfunctions dominated the complaints at 59 percent, signal absence came in at 31 percent, and a complete service blackout was reported by 10 percent.

Verizon has yet to issue a statement regarding the widespread outages on their social platforms; however, they have been addressing individual grievances on their support page on X, urging affected customers to direct message them with their issues.

iPhone users experiencing “SOS only” mode should understand that it signifies a lack of connection to cellular networks, though emergency calls are still possible. Normal service will resume once the iPhone reconnects to a network.
