Reddit down as users struggle to access app and website in huge global outage – Tech News – Tech

A massive outage has left Reddit users in the UK and US frustrated, unable to access the app or website.

At approximately 4.10pm, over 150,000 US users reported disruptions, a Downdetector analysis indicates. The main issue appeared to be with the app’s responsiveness, but the website also faced downtime.

In the US, around 4pm, there were about 30,000 reported difficulties, as stated by Downdetector.

Reddit‘s technical woes have prompted an inquiry from The Mirror. The issue has spilt over onto other social platforms like X, where complaints are mounting.

A user took to X, exclaiming: “I’m running to Twitter to see if Reddit is down for everyone else.”

Acknowledging the problem, Reddit expressed on Twitter at roughly 9.30pm UK time: “The issue has been identified and a fix is being implemented.”

They had initially mentioned experiencing “degraded performance,” which led X users to express their ire online, with one remarking: “How come you can say ‘degraded performance’ while it’s literally been dead for over 20 minutes?”

For those attempting to connect during the disruption, Reddit‘s homepage bore an apologetic note stating: “We encountered an error. We were unable to load the content for this page.”
